Praga - Dane van Heerde

TOUGH IDUBE WEEKEND

The third round of the 2019 South African Rotax Max Championship, held at iDube Raceway on 10 August, proved to be a challenging one for Praga and the results are testament to the ultra-competitive racing.

Mohammed Moerat had a disastrous Micro Max qualifying session, not getting in a decent flying lap and finding himself down in 12th place on the grid. He had a very good first race, however, making up 8 positions to finish in 4th place. A difficult second heat saw him cross the line in 8th, but he bounced back to take a podium finish in the final heat. Mohammed ended the day 3rd overall.

Erich Heystek again showed his very competitive pace by setting the 2nd quickest qualifying lap time. He finished the first heat in 5th position. Wheel to wheel racing in heat two, saw Erich hit with a nose cone penalty, which dropped him to 9th in the results. Erich took a hard earned 4th in the final race and finished 6th in the overall results for the day.

Tyler Robinson made a very impressive debut in Mini Max. She qualified 8th and put in a steady first race performance to finish 7th. Tyler had a great second race, getting herself up into 5th place. Her results just kept getting better and she took a head turning 4th place finish in heat three. Tyler ended the day 6th overall (after just one pre-event test session in the kart).

Dane van Heerde enjoyed some solid top ten results. He put his Senior Max kart on the fifth row of the grid, but was dropped down the race one results after receiving a nose cone penalty. Dane finished 9th in race two and 8th in the final heat. He ended the weekend 10th overall.

With the Rotax round complete, Praga will now focus on the SA Rok Cup event, which will be taking place at iDube on Saturday 17 August. Breaking news for this event is that it will be covered via live streaming. More details to follow later this week.
