Luke Hill – Rok Cup Review

Luke Hill

Luke Hill put in a solid performance at round three of the South African Rok Cup, which took place at the picturesque iDube Raceway in Camperdown this past weekend (21/22 November).

It was a highly competitive qualifying session, with only half a second separating 2nd and 13th on the grid. Luke put in a good lap time, driving the wheels off his RS Kart, but in the end, the calibre of the field meant that Luke had to start from the 5th row of the grid.

Undeterred, however, Luke lined up for the start determined to make up ground. He made short work of progressing through the field in heat one and took the chequered flag in sixth place.

He continued to show great consistency and race craft, gaining four place to finish 6th.

A challenging final heat saw Luke advance five positions to cross the finish line in 8th position.

Luke may not have had the outright pace this weekend, but he made up for this with some great race craft. He finished 6th in overall standings and 2nd in the under-10 division.

Even more than the weekend’s results, Luke enjoyed the opportunity to spend the weekend with his teammates and observe some normalcy in what has been a trying year. The final round of the 2020 South African and Northern Regions Mini Rok championship will take place at Zwartkops Raceway on 12 December 2020.
