JOSH LE ROUX SET FOR EUROPE
Josh le Roux has been selected to represent South Africa in the 2020 FIK Karting Academy Trophy.
The FIA Karting Academy Trophy is a unique competition designed to pit the best hopes of the world against each other on equal terms. The young Drivers, aged between 12 and 14, represent their country driving randomly selected one-design karts and it is reserved solely for candidates selected by their National Federations.
“It is a huge honour to be selected to represent South Africa in the Academy this year and I know that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” commented Josh.
This year, the drivers will be using the OTK chassis equipped with a Vortex engine from the OK-Junior category. The karts will run on Vega tyres.
In addition to the physical racing, the Academy Trophy has a strong focus on creating future champions by presenting training sessions at each event. The training includes elements such as:
– Athletic training
– Correct mental approach and techniques for mental training
– Healthy eating and race day nutrition
The three round series will take place across Europe, with the first round taking place at the beginning of May.
1st round: April 30th – May 3rd, Italy, Lonato
2nd round: June 18-21st, Belgium, Genk
3rd round: September 10-13th, France, Le Mans
“I have to thank my family for their unconditional support in making my dreams come true and my team, RKT, for getting me to where I am today. I am super excited and can’t wait to head to Italy in May,” Josh concluded.
