Jarrod Waberski – F1600 Review

Jarrod Waberski

The opening round of the 2020 South African Investchem Formula 1600 race took place at Zwartkops Raceway on Saturday 14 March and Jarrod Waberski earned an impressive set of results.

Jarrod started the weekend off on a high note, putting his DAW Racing Mygale on to the 3rd row of the grid. His pace may have caught a few experienced campaigners by surprise, but was a fantastic confidence boost for the young driver.

Jarrod put in a solid first race performance, holding his 6th place to the flag, thus completing his first ever main circuit race. Race two didn’t go quite according to script and after a spirited drive, Jarrod crossed the finish line in 9th place.

The final race of the day was, however, reason for celebration. Jarrod drove his heart out and claimed a podium finish. The SA karting champ had race fans on the edge of their seats and has set the tone for his 2020 season.

“It was a great weekend and although I know I’ve been putting in long hours of practice, I must admit that I never thought a podium on debut was even a possibility. I really need to thank my family for their encouragement and my team for just being outstanding. I am beyond ecstatic with these results,” expressed Jarrod.

Jarrod finished 4th in the overall standings.

The next race is scheduled to take place in Cape Town on 18 April. This is however subject to change.
