Carlo Olivier – FKR Review

Carlo Olivier had a fantastic weekend, claiming an event win in the FKR Shifter class at the Formula K Circuit in Benoni on Saturday (14 November 2020).

Carlo took to the FKR Shifter like a duck to water, showing tremendous pace in free practice. He maintained this pace in qualifying, setting the second fastest lap time, which was just 9 hundredths of a second off the pole sitter.

A good start saw Carlo hold onto second place in race one. He put pressure on race leader, Brandon Smith, and it was shaping up to be a good race. Brandon experienced a technical problem, allowing Carlo to take the lead. He withstood the pressure and romped home for a fantastic race win.

Carlo started race two from pole position and lead the field for most of the race before Brandon got past. After ten hard fought laps, Carlo claimed the number two spot.

Another good start saw Carlo lead the field again in the final heat. Unfortunately, Brandon just had more pace and took the lead in the latter stages of the race. Carlo took the chequered flag in second place.

Carlo’s consistency served him well and he took the overall win for the day!

“I am super stoked about the results this weekend. K2 Motorsport gave me a well prepared kart and I felt comfortable and confident in it right from the start. I want to thank the RS Kart team, my family and friends for their tremendous support,” commented Carlo.

“It has been a particularly difficult season with a limited number of races. I look forward to and hope for, a full season of racing next year,” he concluded.
